Inch by IN:CH – a five year journey

AN artists collective who originally got together in 2021 with a touring exhibition across the south west are reconvening in August with an exhibition reviewing their five year journey and beginning another in Bath and Bruton between 24th August and 27th September.

Travelling to eight locations over the summer of 2021, Inch by IN:CH took work made in the shadow of COVID-19 to local communities. Now, finding the world transformed over the intervening period, the collective comes together again, with Where Are We Now?, to present work that raises questions about what we have all been moving through and where we might be now.

Presenting painting, sculpture and installation, the two exhibitions so far confirmed will be at 44AD ArtSpace, Abbey St, Bath on 24th August 5-8pm, and 25th to 30th, 11am–5pm daily, and at 6 High Street, Bruton as part of Somerset Art Weeks Festival, open Friday to Sunday, 25th – 27th September and 2nd – 4th October, 10am–5pm.

Exhibiting small and medium-sized sculpture, painting and installation in Bath and Bruton, the collective believes that art not only expresses but can also explore and connect – something that is particularly pertinent in times of transition.

When reflecting on the work they made in 2021, they are considering
•What functions do their individual art practices perform now
•How has their work evolved since the last time they exhibited together
•How will new venues, new times affect interaction with the work

There will be a chance to hear the artists talk about their work on Wednesday 26th August at 6pm at 44AD Artspace, and a children’s workshop on Sunday 30th from 11am to 1pm, encouraging children to explore their own place in the world through creative practice.

The participating Inch by IN:CH artists are:
Suze Adams, installations (mixed media);
Fiona Campbell, artist, educator, curator, Sculptural installations using found objects and recycled materials;
Philippa Edwards, drawing, sculpture and printmaking;
Anna Kot, painter and photographer exploring the compositional structuring of abstract art;
