Into the Westlands Woods

YEOVIL Amateur Operatic Society is mounting its Autumn production, of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, on the stage at Westlands from Thursday 18th to Saturday 21st October.

The show is directed by Tash Moore with Matt Holman-Holmes in charge of the challenging music.

The theme of this Grimm brothers-inspired musical is “be careful what you wish for”, and it brilliantly weaves the stories of the village baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella, Jack who wishes his cow would give milk, Little Red, trying to outwith the Wolf so she can visit her grandmother, the witch and her daughter Rapunzel, and two princes chasing after their loves.

The YAOS cast includes Sarah Westaway as the witch, Matt Thompson-Burrows and Charlie Wood as the baker and his wife, Izzy MacGregor as Little Red, Emily Wilson as Granny, Matthew Parker as Jack and Jennifer Holland Brewer as his mother, Leah Driver as Cinderella and Sebastian Watts as her prince, Hannah Long as Rapunzel and Harrison Waterhouse as her prince, Jodie Glover (making an incredibly quick turnaround from her performance at Lyme Regis as the office manager in Glengarry Glen Ross) as both the giant and Sleeping Beauty and Amelia Meldrum as Snow White.
