JURASSIC Fields, a feel-good family festival billed as the “the jewel in the crown of a West Dorset summer of sounds,” returns to West Bay for a packed weekend of great music and food, from 14th to 16th August.

With camping right next door to the West Bay Fields festival site, just a short walk away from the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the weekend has a stellar bill, headlined by multi-million selling Scouting For Girls, as they begin the build up to next summer’s 20th anniversary weekend at Wembley. They’re joined on the main stage by noughties hitmakers Feeder.

The festival, which was saved from extinction a year ago, has quickly re-established its reputation as a friendly festival, where great music is matched by a warm West Dorset welcome with brilliant food and drink – it feels like a summer party with all your favourite people.

Festival organiser Serena Wren of Immense Events, the Dorset-based company that stepped in to save the festival last year, says: “What we love about Jurassic Fields is that it puts smiles on people’s faces. Maybe it’s the salt in the air from the sea, or the fantastic light that makes this corner of West Dorset so popular with artists, but whatever it is, it makes everyone happy. That rubs off on the artists as well and they feed it back to the audience.”

The line-up includes Goldie Lookin’ Chain, The Beautiful South (now The South), 90s Britpop icons Space, UK garage pioneers Artful Dodger and big beat buccaneers Dub Pistols, plus DJs and dance music artists. There will also be local and regional bands and top UK tributes Oasis, Robbie Williams, Fleetwood Mac and Foo Fighters.

Ensuring that Jurassic Fields is a festival for all ages, there is lots of free kids’ entertainment and activities featuring Mad 4 Animals, Bubble Shows, storyteller Mark Fraser, Jamie Jambo, K-Pop disco, Pinkie Parties, Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey the Dragon.
