New grants for South Somerset market towns

THREE South Somerset market towns will benefit from a new grants programme launched by South Somerset District Council this September. The aim of the grants is to increase the number of visitors to Chard, Crewkerne and Ilminster.

Not for profit groups and organisations based in the three towns are invited to apply for grants to stage events and activities in the town centres. The total fund is £4,500 and groups can apply for grants of between £200 and £1500.

The scheme is a one-off, time limited fund provided by SSDC’s Area West Committee with the first round of grants available until 31st October. A second round will open from 1st January to 28th February 2018. Events funded by the scheme must take place before the end of August 2018.

Decisions on grants will favour events that are being run collaboratively, between two or more organisations. For more information email supportwest@nullsouthsomerset.gov.uk
