Queer ladies eat quiche

THE clock at Strode Theatre will be turning the clock back almost 70 years next week, when the Street Theatre Company brings Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood’s play 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche to the region for the first time.

Set in New York State in 1956, The Susan B Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein are meeting on the day of their annual quiche contest. But just as they are sitting down for the breakfast which will decide the winner, sirens sound. These are no ordinary sirens, but those warning of atomic attack.

How will these five women respond to a threat to their idyllic town and their perfect lifestyle?
Paul Townsend directs this witty play, which was chosen as the Best Overall Production in the 2012 NYC International Fringe Festival.

A tasty recipe of hysterical laughs, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche is full of sexual innuendoes, unsuccessful repressions and delicious discoveries. The Street cast is Jane Sayer, Karen Trevis, Alice Cameron, Nicky Hann and Jemima Greed. Performances, in the studio theatre, begin at 7.45 from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th July.
