Reimagining ancient tales for today

STORYTELLING is as old as recorded time – long before there were any forms of writing, people have always stories and there have always been story-tellers. From Odyssey and Beowulf to East Enders and Outlander, stories grip us … Now contemporary storyteller George Attwill comes to three Dorset villages, this weekend, Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th October, with an evening of myth, mirth and magic.

In ancient times people would come together on dark winter nights, in a gathering place, not so very different from this, a space for the community to meet and huddle around the fire … have a drink, perhaps get a little rowdy and tell stories.

Mixing audience participation with carnival-style revelry, George Attwill shares a selection of ancient tales … stories of gods and goddesses, witches and wizards, wise men and fools, great giants, precious treasures and forbidden knowledge.

Expect to laugh and gasp and even join in “voluntary” audience participation. Feel free to take part OR simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the show…

Lung and a Half Full Theatre brings Tales for an Unruly Audience to the village halls at Milborne St Andrew on Friday 2nd, Corfe Castle on Saturday 3rd and Child Okeford on Sunday 4th, all at 7.30pm.
