BILLED as “Roald Dahl’s amazingly weird and wonderful stage musical”, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the choice of Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society for the spring show, on stage at Westlands from 17th to 22nd March.
Directed and choreographed by Martyn Knight, the musical director is Gill Merrifield. The music, by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse, comes from the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film, and includes Pure Imagination, The Candy Man and Oompa Loompa Doompa-Dee-Do.
Full of spectacle, delight and of course, Golden Tickets, this is a story for all the family and makes its Yeovil debut with the prodigiously talented members of YAOS.
Performances start at 7pm nightly, with a 2pm Saturday matinee.
Len Copland photograhed Willy Wonka and the two alternating Charlies in Yeovil, ahead of the show.
