The living spit of Beauty – or the Beast?

LIVING Spit are back on tour in January with their own unique take on one of the best-loved fairytales – Beauty and the Beast. Written by co-founders, Stu McLoughlin and the late and much-missed Howard Coggins, this playful, updated version of the 18th century French fable is at the Princess Theatre at Burnham-on-Sea on 8th January, starting a tour that ends at the Tobacco Factory in Bedminster from 22nd to 24th January.

The tour, with dates in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset, includes three performances in Dorset, at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, on Thursday 15th, Dorchester Arts at the Corn Exchange on Friday 16th and Sturminster Newton Exchange on Saturday 17th.

Tackling this tale as old as time, the Living Spit duo have to use all their skills to portray a hideous, foul-tempered beast. But which performer will it be? It’s a new and hilarious take on this story that asks what it means to be truly beautiful.

After Burnham-on-Sea, Beauty and the Beast will be at Corsham’s Pound Arts on 9th and 10th January, at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, on 15th January, at Dorchester Corn Exchange on 16th January and Sturminster Exchange on 17th January, followed by three dates at the Tobacco Factory.
