The occupation of Jersey

THE November event in the Guardians of Martock Church programme is a talk rather than a concert, looking at life on the Channel Island of Jersey during the Nazi occupation in the Second World War. The talk is at the Martock Fellowship Hall on Thursday 16th November at 2pm.

The Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands lasted for most of the war, from 30th June 1940 until liberation on 9th May 1945. The islands – including Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney –were the only part of Britain to be occupied by Nazi Germany during the war.

Richard Basset, who lives locally, was a young bay during the invasion and occupation, and the talk reflects his experiences of life under the Nazi forces and his views of the occupation.
